Whereabouts and Goings-On

Hello Cyberworld.

It has come to my attention this morning that we have not be in communication with the outside world whilst in the earth year 2009, so this blog is intended to rectify that situation whilst also letting anyone that is slightly interested know of our whereabouts and goings-on.

Firstly, Drawings would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year, we do hope you had fun over the festive season? I spent it in bed making beats whilst suffering from the flu.

We have lots of new songs written, which are currently being arranged and re-arranged in to formats we are happy with for the time being. The thing with this band is that we probably won't play a song the same twice, even if it's just a few notes here and there, we like to change things up to keep it fresh, it can get hella boring playing the same thing over and over.

Here's a list of songs we have so far:

Sick To My Heart
Friends
Apoc.
Sore Thumb
SWiPE
6224
Tender
Catch The Rain
Wallpaper
The Long Road Out Of Hell

We also have a rather exciting project forming. Aside from the songs listed above we are also midway through writing a series of seven songs, one relating to each of the seven deadly sins.

We currently have:

Lust
Wrath
Envy
Pride

Hopefully we should get the other three (Gluttony, Greed and Sloth) finished over the next few days. The idea is that they will serve a purpose which might be of interest to you, however, more on that when it's arranged, I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise!

We are going to be putting demos of songs up for you to listen to starting very shortly, I'll let you know more on that a.s.a.p. however let it be known now, each song will be up for one day and one day only, then that recording will never be heard again!

- The songs were played completely live (something which pretty much no bands ever do nowadays) and are completely free from auto-tune (the tuning device almost EVERY band on the planet uses to make their singer in tune) and we think they sound awesome, live recordings have so much more feel and energy to them as they actually record a performance; a moment in time collectively shared by the band, rather than some notes and beats that have been shifted into time and tune by the dude in the engineer's chair!

Anyway, take care - if you're free on January 31st, come on down to Lennons in Southampton - it's going to be totally awesome!

Like Wheels In Motion

Hello!

We played last week at Hampton's in Southampton - it was awesome! Thanks so much to everyone who listened to us!

We then headed to Devon to stay with our friend Peter Miles who is a recording engineer. Over the weekend, a SERIOUS amount of music was played. In between a lot of hanging out, a lot of Morgans Spiced Rum, eating the best food ever and a veritable plethora of 3 hour long progressive rock jams with piano, hammond organ and harmonium we managed to make 10 live recordings of Drawings songs. Expect documented proof to be arriving via the noughts and ones very soon, both visual and aural. This is a multi sensory excursion after all - prepare by filling your stomachs with more food than you really want to eat, just because, well, it's Christmas!

A our friend of ours called Steve plays in the band Lost On Landing and after our performance at Hampton's kindly invited to be special guests at the gig they were putting on last night at The Joiners in Southampton. Of course we graciously accepted and so headed back from Devon with a slightly hasty attitude towards road safety for the opportunity to play for some unsuspecting ears! We really enjoyed ourselves! We hope you guys did too - let us know via one of the many ways to write words to us on Ourspace!

Take care and Merry Christmas!

Calm before the storm.

Aloha.

December 18th 2008 is almost upon us. On the evening of said date the trio known only as "Drawings" will be performing enough (both) pre-rehearsed and improvised sound wave patterns to fully occupy the time slot allocated to them (approx. 30 minutes).

The word on street level is roaring with excitement about how the evenings proceedings are going to be "bear bruts", "bangin'", "fresh" and "really good" so via this internet portal I hope the noughts and ones reach you in roughly the same order I am sending them and you will be pleased at the outcome of the time invested in deciphering the, somewhat colloquialised, written communication reaching you and thus plans will be made a.s.a.p* for you to attend the concert, perhaps with some school friends or work collegues.

Please note that tickets are required to gain entry to the concert and are available from Reskue Skateboard Shop in Southampton City Centre at just £5.

We Heart Art.

Aloha means goodbye but also hello.

Aloha,

If these words are registering in your brain via your optic nerve and the interweb enabled computer box you are pointing your face at then I welcome you with open arms, as fellow human beings, Drawings is grateful for any contact with like-minded truth seekers lending us their ears for an injection of honest rocking.

We would like to think that if you've been directed here by a stray myspace request or perhaps a friend's recommendation then there's at least a fleeting chance you will be interested in our sonic endeavour.

Please have a look around our website (located at http://www.wearedrawings.com) and fill your time with the somewhat vague and useless pieces of information you might be able to lay your cyber-hands on whilst perusing our section of this time/soul/creativity-sapping void, they are there, after all, for you to digest and enjoy.

Given that the world is yet to lend it's collective ear to the sound of our creative impulses in a live environment, it might be of interest to you to know Drawings have a concert planned.

Drawings will be performing on December 18th 2008 at Hampton's Bar in Southampton, England. More details will follow for the more eagle eyed amongst you, though if you were to check back at any of the various online portals in to the world of the band Drawings, it's quite plausible the information you crave will seep it's way there over the coming days.

This blog will be updated regularly, I'd advise checking back that often.

Love,

Matthew
